“...there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.” (Kenneth Grahame, The Wind in the Willows)
….BUT NOW WE HAVE PADDLEBOARDS TOO!
We are delighted to share some happy moments from this weekend - getting back to proper scout activities on the water in true 3rd Osterley style.
On Saturday 3 July we took a group of Scouts and paddled round Isleworth Ait, and on Sunday 4 July we led a group of Explorers from Intrepid ESU up to Ham Reach and back.
We managed to practice some skills, do a bit of yoga, take in some sights, unnerve some off our fellow water users and of course, splash about and get wet. A fair bit of swimming was done and much laughing and squealing.
A big thank you to the generous donations from The Port of London Authority Thames Vision and the London Borough of Hounslow for their support and funding, which has enabled us to do this.
Paddleboarding is very accessible and a great way for our youngsters to have fun and learn more about water sports in general.
