Over the weekend of 3-4th August 2019, seven of our younger Cubs went on a small one night camp at the GLMW Hedgerley site, near Beaconsfield.
At the start of the camp the Cubs decided together what they wanted to cook for dinner (meatballs, pasta, rice) and we all went shopping to buy ingredients. After a picnic lunch and an hour at an adventure playground, we returned to camp and spent the remainder of the afternoon learning how to start and build fires to cook on, interspersed with much playing in the woods on site.
Once Raksha, Akela and mainly Tiffany-Rose had cooked dinner and plates had been appreciatively licked clean there was more playing in the woods, hot chocolate by the campfire and bed.
Breakfast in the woods, again cooked on the fire, was followed by a nice long hike through the nearby RSPB Church Woods with some bird identification. After lunch, cleared up and pack up camp and we all headed home for a much earned rest, with new-found knowledge of the fire triangle.
An excellent weekend all round.
