Section Leader's Report

The Troop now has up to around 40 Scouts and when they all turn up on Thursday night it’s busy to say the least. A constant feed from the cubs means we are unable to take others in from a waiting list, which in one way is the mark of a successful Scout Group, but is also a shame for those who cannot join and enjoy all the activities we get up to. As well as the normal activities (boating on the river, tent pitching, fire lighting, cooking, first aid) we tried self-defence this year for the first time and the Scouts loved it, and did a Group trip to the Harry Potter Studios, which was fabulous. We also managed to fit in wide games, climbing, swimming, paddle-boarding and canoeing. We did a number of camps this year, starting with the wettest weekend camp I can remember at Frylands Wood. We did the County Canoe weekend camp in June, and the District Camp in July. In August at our summer camp we spent 5 days at PGL down in East Sussex. In October we had a weekend at Walter Davies Campsite in Stoke Poges.

The Troop wouldn’t run without a large number of Leaders and helpers at different times and with so many activities. Our thanks go to Chris W, Steve W, Paul, Dave, Oliver, Kirsty, Laura, Jack, Yaz, Debbie, Simon, Neil, Clair B, Hannah, Tracey, Trevor, Michelle, Hamish, Darren, Steve P and Andy.
