Section Leader's Report

Over the last year the cub section has been as active and enthusiastic as ever. With a steady flow of beavers and siblings keeping the numbers up to and above our preferred 36 limit our leaders have been working hard all year to keep the programs interesting, challenging and fun.

As well as the usual round of Activity and Challenge badge work keeping everyone busy on pack nights we have also been getting out and about. We started with a day visit to the Tate Modern Gallery, which is a great place to take twenty 8-9 year olds to try and get their artistic side out. Confusing to some (“That’s art!?”), but a fun interactive day out. A full day hike up over and around Box Hill in Surrey looking for butterflies as part of the Naturalist Badge kept us all breathless in May, with perfect weather and views to compensate. The Lost Weekend Camp in May was very popular as we went to Well End in Hertfordshire for a weekend based around maps and navigation. Lots of mud too...

Our annual 3rd Osterley base camp at in November had a medieval theme and centered round a visit to the Tower of London. The cubs love camping and everything about it and the next couple of camps are already planned. We’ve also enjoyed having leaders from all parts of 3rd Osterley join us on camps and activity days.

The pace in the Cub pack is hectic at times but we'll keep it up...
